About the case study

Codewalla’s first venture into the healthcare sector was with Parent Tablet, a product built and designed to cater to and care for the elderly population. The Codewalla team built the first version of the product from the ground up, providing technical leadership and development expertise to the early-stage startup.

The aim of Parent Tablet was to leverage the covid-technology-adoption wave to introduce mobile and tablet apps to the elderly population that can help them be more independent and simplify their care. However, once the product was launched, Parent Tablet quickly realized that their target customer base is not tech-savvy and is reluctant to adopt modern technology. And as the company failed to find the right product-market fit, the project was paused.

But launching this prototype has allowed Parent Tablet and Codewalla teams to learn that every customer they are trying to help has individually unique needs. And the product they are trying to develop cannot be one-size-fits-all. However, the elderly population is a big and growing market and will need products that focus on elder care. Therefore, Parent Tablet has gone back to the market research stage, looking for the market niche they can focus on to provide valuable services.
